My cat eats four times aday.
30g ofdry kibbles then 20g in the afternoon followed by half of a wet pouch then some few strands of cooked chicken and 10g of dry kibbles.
If i were to feed him a raw chicken wing, would he be full if i reduce his dry kibbles and also do you feed raw with the skin?
thanks
Raw food and raw bone is perfectly safe for cats to eat. Cooked bone can cut and splinter their throats and/or insides. Cooked meat of any kind doesn’t have the nutrients that raw meat does since the nutrients have been cooked/boiled out. Cats in the wild do not cook their prey and I have yet to see a case where a wild cat choked or was splintered with their prey’s bones.
Your cat may not take to the whole chicken wing immediately since it’s probably not use to eat and won’t know that it is food. Cut up the wing and mix it with the wet food a bit at a time until you can feed your cat the wing without any other food mixed in it.
After the cat gets used to eating raw chicken by itself, then make the pieces larger until the cat eats the wing whole. It’s always easier said than done though.
Edit: Some answerers lack intelligence on a carnivore’s true diet. Lions, tigers, etc do not cook their killed prey and neither do feral or wild cats cook their mice and birds. A chicken is a bird. Cats in the wild do NOT cook their killed birds. Silly humans are the ones that can’t handle salmonella. Dogs and cats systems are built to handle these and they have a much shorter digestive system meaning the salmonella, if any, doesn’t stay in the body long enough to cause any damage. I’ve been feeding my 2 cats RAW chicken, turkey and duck since Jan ‘09 and haven’t, I repeat, haven’t gotten salmonella or any other sickness from it. The lady I purchase the raw from has been feeding her cats and dogs raw for over 12 years and no bouts of any sickness from it. http://www.mypetcarnivore.com Do some simple research. It’s all on Google. A raw chicken wing will NOT hurt a CARNIVORE.
You should never feed an animal chicken or bird bones if they were to break the wrong way they can be very sharp and poke the animal in the throat.
EDIT: Pet food is not completely healthy for a housepet, the pet food ( common brands ) have many many fillers in them such as saw dust and useless grains, Feeding an animal a special diet is often why they live longer. In most countries pet food is not even existing, they feed them table scraps. not to mention the worlds longest living dogs are specially fed boiled chicken with vitamins.
@ocimon haha you are a smart one there its cooked chicken bones not the raw ones
You never, never, never feed raw chicken to a cat. Haven’t you heard of salmonella? Yes cat can get it too. And you never give chicken bones to any animal, the bones will splinter and get stuck in their throat.
Why are you restricting your cats food? Cats will only eat til they are full, they never over eat, so always have a full bowl of biscuits down for him to nibble on whenever he likes and water.
You are not feeding him enough meat, he is a cat, a hunter and a meat eater.
I would skin it – the cat doesn’t really need the skin on the chicken wing. We feed one meal of dry, one meal of canned a day and raw chicken or hamburger once or twice a week.
RAW chicken bones are safe to eat – they are soft – you cannot feed the cooked chicken bones as they will break and splinter.
It is recomended that you do not feed your pet any thing but petfood recomended for your pet. Feeding table scraps can throw off their dite and make them sick. I do not feed any human food to my animals only what i know is healthy for them.
You really should not feed your cat a chicken wing, unless you debone it first. Chicken bones shred and can cause perforations in the intestinal tract and stomach which can lead to death. Just feed your cat food made especially for cats, it’s the safest.
Unless your cat is used to hunting and catching birds to eat Id make certain there were no bones in the chicken before I let him eat it..
