Do You Have To Give Your Dogs Fruits And Veggies When Feeding Raw?

Wendy Volhard’s Holistic Diet for dogs recommends a variety of raw meat, raw veg (or singed cooked), certain dried fruits and natural yoghurts or cottage cheese.
In relation to biology the dog and human DNA is not so different and as we wouldn’t offer a baby or a toddler wine or very sharp foods, Dogs and Cats are similar.
What is good for the goose is poison to the gander, depending where you get your information from and what part of the world you live in. Use your wisdom and remember that some people are allergic to peanuts, just as some dogs are allergic to peanuts. Anything in excess can be fatal to both humans and animals, depending on the strength of their constitution and immune system.
You are what you believe, just as your physique is the manifestation of what your digestive track absorbs. IOW you also are what you eat. The same can be said to of other species. In America the latest craze is to never give your dogs raisins, whilst live yoghurt with cereals, makes for a good dog breakfast. This can include raisins and other dried fruits and berries.
Humans are advised a 25 coloured variety meal p/week, which includes fruit, vegetables, roughage and meat, poultry or fish. Additional supplements for various ailments and vitamins to keep the immune system full proof. Most animals thrive on natural diets and some cannot survive without it. We believe that humans and animals must eat meat, yet the remains of human species found in different countries, were perfectly preserved, because their diets were based on fruits, berries and lentils, including soy beans. Meat is not necessary for the human diet, although a little may be beneficial. The same can apply to what we understand to be carniverous animals. Tiger Island in Thailand, have created entirely vegetarian Tigers.
Everything we are taught is relevant and all that we learn is part of the illusion of the life we choose to live. From a personal perspective I would recommend a variety of fruits and vegetables in a dog’s diet, especially when feeding raw. A dog will only eat vegetarian ingredients when brought up from a pup. Vegetables and Fruits contain properties we do not find in meat. Meat is mainly protein and therefore somewhat onesided in vitamins and minerals.

    it is a personal decision.
Dogs are carnivores, not omnivores and don’t need veggies and fruits.
So your dog can be perfectly healthy to feed just meat.(prey model)
they get fiber from the prey model, plus every mineral and vitamin they need. Dogs don’t need “roughage” and they won’t be lacking any nutrient if they eat just prey model.
That being said, fruit and veggies in small amounts certainly won’t hurt, so if you feel that you need to feed them this, you can. But certain veggies have to be either cooked or thrown in a food processor, and others need to be fed raw.
To me, it is a lot more work to have to figure out veggies, and how to prepare them when the dog doesn’t even need them, than to just give them a whole chicken.
Either way, it is up to you. As i said, there isn’t one thing your dog needs from plant matter that it doesn’t get from meat/bones/organ meats.
If there were, why aren’t all the wild dogs and wolves running around with deficiencies and growth problems???? They don’t eat plant matter, unless there is an extreme food shortage, and they are starving.
But when food is in abundance, they eat just meat.

Actually dogs are not carnivores, they are omnivores, just like humans, which means they are at their best on a diet of not only meat, but vegetables as well.
If you give him raw carrots, it will keep his teeth clean too!
Cats are true carnivores, they have to have meat to survive.
