If so, how is it? what are the results? Are you happy? Any positive changes? I’ve read tons about raw feeding and I’m pretty convinced that it’s the way to go. I’m really new to this idea, So I am scared but I want to do it.
I want to change our pets to a raw diet- I just cant find the info- but it is definately on the cards.
My cousin BARF feeds (bones and raw foods) her dogs- she has an older Australian Shepherd, and a young Rottweiler (he is a show dog.)
The breeders that she purchased the Rottie from also BARF feed, and she has since convinced many people to do it as well.
She swears by it- says her dogs are much happier and healthier, and her friends dogs are looking great too. They all have nice, shiny coats, too.
She swears she is saving a tonne of money – she used to feed her dogs super premium food which can get quite expensive- now it costs her around $40 a month for her dogs food. She makes a big batch once a month and freezes the food. There are a couple of ingredients that you cant freeze- so she adds these to the dogs food after it thaws. Good luck.
I used to do “BARF” (bones and raw food). My biggest problem was finding good quality raw food — our grocery store food just wasn’t clean enough. I did like it, and I do feel it is a healthy choice. However, dogs can and do get sick if the meat isn’t clean enough…and finding clean meat is a problem.
I still do raw shin bones (frozen) to keep teeth clean and exercise jaws. If you’re unsure, start with chicken necks and shin bones.
Unfortunately, raw was really bad for my dog. Her health condition decreaed. When I put her back on Orijen kibble, her hair started growing wonderfully and she had way more energy.
