Raw Feeding Information?

My dog’s love liver, heart and all kinds of raw meat.
I’m also getting a Dane pup in the summer.
I really want to feed them a raw diet, but I’m not sure what meat and how much of it I should feed them.
I don’t want to feed them too little or too much.
So how do I figure out how much I should be feeding my dogs?
Also, does anyone have like… a diet sheet of what to feed for a day?
Thanks in advance. :]

Dogs are supposed to consume 2-3% of their body weight a day in raw foods.
With raw you should start feeding 2-3% and then make adjustments as you go.
My Saint (140 pounds) eats 2.75 pounds of meat a day. I keep her lean because of her bilateral hip dysplasia. I started her on 2.5 pounds a day and noticed she could use a little more beefing up, so I adjusted it and now -in my opinion- she is getting the perfect amount for HER.
You will get the hang of it… it is not rocket science :) You really cannot make any mistakes. If you are feeding too little, just add more… if you are feeding too much, just cut back. It will be a learning experience and a “see how it goes” type deal.
    I wish you luck!

Its an absolute gamble usually and I imagine this question will cause a fight between the raw dog food hitlers like it normally does.
The truth is that faddish people create faddish diets for their dogs which usually are short term, better to get a good grade of over the counter dog food , dry or meat, weigh your dog and settle him in with regular regimented feeding.
Edit: as you see no-body here has helped you with your problem at all, I find they would much rather thumbs down other answerers and totally contradict each other, I would get a book rather than be led up the garden path by fanatics.
Ultimate diet till the next one comes along.

I use meaty bones and do not give many things like liver. He get some raw veggies. If you would not cook and eat the peice of meat do not give it to your dog. I see some people call this way of feeding a fad but my family as fed thier dogs this way for a very long time. The vets I worked for in high school also fed thier meat eating animals like this and that was in the 70’s. The vet I have now says my dog is the healthest he as coming to him.

First of all before I start the information about the raw I just wanted to say, the raw food diet is the BEST diet out there for animals, and all you people who think opposite you obviously have problems understanding it.
Now for the information part of it.
I don’t really want to get into it so here are some sites and books to check out.
    Sites:http://www.kymythy.com/bookpage.htmlhttp://www.canismajor.com/dog/barf.html
    Books:
Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats The Ultimate Diet
    Kymythy R. Shultze
The ultimate diet one has a food plan and a section on how much food dogs should get depending on their weight.
It is great to hear that someone else is making an effort to feed our animal the healthiest diet EVER!
    Good Luck!
    P.S.
Don’t read any of the answers that talk about processed food, they have no idea what they are talking about ;)

Ask your vet after you get the puppy…different amounts of food are better for different dogs. Have your vet recommend a diet for each individual dog based on breed, age, size, and general health
