Dogs when put on earth ate raw meat over time man altered this by making dog food that lacks what they need. Why do you thank wild dogs and wolves are so big they feed off the land. If no one every captured dogs and mated them to be house pets they would be eating rabit,and other animals. IF a dog gets plenty of exercise like a wolf do it want hurt their health.

I have been doing RAW research for about a month now, on a debate of whether to switch my dogs over or not. I just wanted to note that MOST of the posts here simply opinions and have zero research or knowledge, this post is almost useless, as all the info contradicts others posts. Please do your research (somewhere other than here)heavily before deciding what/how to feed your dogs, for your dog’s benefit please!!!

i give meaty large bones. they pass it quite well. but i remove most of the fat and wait to refeed until all of it has passed to prevent malnutrition. i also use partly cooked veggies and eggs. i give all milk products. i even hide fruit in their food. never splintery bones. i watch that they dont grind their teeth down. frozen or partly cooked is best.yes its dangerous.all squashes are very good.its fun and u dont need to leave the grocery store.

i would always cook meat first to get rid of bacteria no matter what just my opnion

Really chicken as a whole is just bad news for dogs. Even if the chicken is cooked it brings with it diarrhea….. If u give him cooked chicken bones they will splinter in the dog’s intestine… Raw chicken brings salmonella just a bad food choice all around…. If u want to give them something close to chicken that taste really good and vets even recommend it, is smoked turkey necks…. Of course a real good dog food is the best followed by pig ears and dog bone biscuits that promote dental care…..

I make my dogs’ food according to recipes in Dr. Pitcairn’s book, and I’ve also talked to my vet about it. They all get raw meat and are thriving on fresh food diet. Dogs do not get e-coli or salmonella from raw meat like people do. You do not, however, feed a dog raw pork or fish – those need to be cooked.
I would not feed my dogs chicken bones ever – the only raw bones they get are raw knuckle bones.

the main concern is the bones
they tend to splinter & can cut or tear their throat, digestive tract, or stomach
also fish bones are bad because of this
a good soup bone or ham bone should be Ok

There are many proponents of raw diets. Cooked or raw, watch the fat content as it can cause serious problems with a dogs pancreas. Also, chicken alone may not provide all of your dogs nutritional requirements. If you are planning to feed raw, read up! Search BARF diets (bones and raw food) on your favorite search engine.

If you feed it to him cooked, that is bad. Feeding it to him raw is healthy, and a smart decision from you because he will use the nutrients from the bone and meat.
Its not dangerous at all because the bone is chewy, and can be digested, and dogs don’t get diseases like E-Coli because they have short digestive tracts.
Chicken bones are the main staple for many raw feeders.

Depends, would you eat raw chicken-NO! of course not, so the same is true for your dog. There is way to much bacteria on uncooked chicken to feed it to your dog. And remove the bones from the meat as well. Chicken bones are small enough to caught in the throat or digestive tract.
