I saw some dog products that were some kind of gravy that mixes with dry food to delight the dogs. Is BBQ Sauce safe to feed to dogs in the same manner?
I also read about the benefits of feeding raw eggs and egg shells to dogs. Can anybody confirm this?
egg shells are a great source of calcium for dogs and dogs intestinal tracts are much shorter than ours and they can handle raw foods such as poultry and eggs with little risk of the problems we face/ BBQ sauce is not safe but the gravy made for dogs is not BBQ sauce.
Raw eggs in moderation are fine. I would not over do it with them.
Raw eggs are great for the coat and a great source of calcium and protein. Once a week should be plenty for the dog.
I know many people who feed raw eggs.
The BBQ sauce I would pass on. There tends to be garlic and onions which can be toxic to dogs.
And I just have to add: Taking nutritional advice is about the same as taking advice from a poor dog food company. They’re paid to endorse one certain brand, and not tell the truth essentially.
Also they typically know very little in regards to dog nutrition as their course does not offer a proper section for it.
The only dog food I have heard of that makes it’s own gravy is Gravy Train. You add warm water to it and it makes the water a bit thick and beefy flavored form the food. I was giving this to my dog for a while then she started breaking out all over her face and chin in blister like bumps and all of her skin was really dry and itchy. It took me a few days but I finally it together that that all started when I switched her food. She has been back to her regular food for about a week now and the rash is just about gone and so it the itchiness. So be careful about switching your dogs food, it can cause some painful problems. And I have heard that giving your dog a raw egg can help the coat to be shiny but I have never heard anything about the egg shells but I personally wouldn’t feed then to my dog. I would be afraid of her throat getting scratched. And the BBQ sauce is a bad idea too. Besides the spices there is onion in it and onions are very bad for dogs. They cause some kind of health problems (can’t remember exactly what right now). You should stick to the best dog food for your dog and only feed dog snacks, not human food. Most people know about chocolate being harmful to dogs but there is a huge list of other foods that are just as harmful.
BBQ sauce is a no. It has a lot of sugar in it, and is not good for dogs.
Eggs, however are great for dogs, the shell provides a lot of calcium. Some dogs won’t eat the shell, but if your dog does, that’s great. Raw eggs are safe, healthy, and great for dogs. A LOT of people on here are ignorant and completely misinformed about raw eggs, they are very good for dogs, and not at all dangerous, don’t listen to them.
Egg shell and eggs have to be cooked, if the shells aren’t cooked the slimty and gritty texture will cause the dog to choke and possible suffocate
Raw eggs
Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella.
Bbq sause would contain onions, which is toxic to dogs
1) Always balance a home cooked meal with calcium. You cannot feed cooked bones to dogs safely, and when you are feeding a diet without bones, you need to add either 900 mg of calcium per pound of food served, OR 1/2 teaspoon of ground egg shell. Save eggshells and dry overnight, and grind in a clean coffee bean grinder.
Raw bones however a good source of calcium
I give my dogs eggs mixed in with their food once in a while for a treat. be careful with your dogs diet.remember eggs can be fattening for dogs. Also i always cook the eggs a little.I’ve given them raw but the sliminess grosses me out. BBQ sauce and egg shells can upset their stomachs. I don’t know how picky your dogs are but I put warm water and a little garlic powder to make gravy for mine most of the time. they like it. Sometimes i put a tablespoon full of can food mixed with hot water for gravy.
1. No, to BBQ sauce. Almost all BBQ sauce contains garlic and onion, some contains sugar–none of those things are good for dogs.
2. I know a lot of folks who used to feed raw eggs (with the shell) to their dogs. But lately that is something vets have advised against–for the same reason humans don’t eat raw eggs anymore–risk of salmonella.
yes you people dont know what u r talking about. my girfriend i have a pitbull and we were trying to bulk him up so we started giving him eggs and egg shells and within 3 weeks you could tell a big difference he was getting big and fast. i duno what your goal is for your dog but that was ours. so yes eggs do bulk up dogs and it is because there is alot of protein in eggs. hope that helps
BBQ Sauce will probably give your dog diarrhea. Don’t ever give your dog raw eggs or meat. They can get food poisoning just like people. High quality foods are better than trying to solve eating and skin problems than adding extras to lower quality food.
we have 4 dogs at our house and have many many others.. BBQ sauce will probably give your dog really bad gas lol and you can give them raw eggs to make their coats shiny just one egg a day though.. more than that could upset their stomachs. and no way on the shells..
I would pass on the BBQ sauce and mix water to make a gravy in the food. I have given my dogs raw eggs, it is good for their coats. I wouldnt give my guys egg shells.
I wouldn’t recommend the BBQ sauce, but raw eggs and shells are wonderful!
My dogs get two (whole, raw) eggs every week and their coats are beautifully soft.
There is some kind of diet for dogs where you only feed them raw meat/eggs/some veggies. I’m pretty sure the raw eggs would be fine, but not 100%.
the healthiest way to get a gravy mixture for your dogs food is to just add a little water.
NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!
Go online and read about what things can/cannot be given to your dog.
Our food and sauces contain WAY too much salt and other harmful ingredients that can cause major problems.
You can feed dogs scrambled eggs, cooked hamburger meat, raw chicken legs, rice, green beans, carrots
NO bones, raisins, chocolate, onions, sausage
BBQ sauce = NO! Raw eggs and egg shells = NO! Try one of the many quality dog foods on the market instead. Such as Canidae, Innova, Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Blue Buffalo, etc.
I would not recommend it what so ever. A good well balanced wet or dry dog food is plenty. Other forms of food and seriously upset your dogs GI tract.
raw eggs and shells? nope, dont think so
