And by-prodcut or by-product meal in dog food. Everyone says that by-products are bad for dogs, but then people defend feeding raw whole animals to dogs. I can understand feeding the meat of an animal raw, and I’m sure it’s much healthier than commercial dog food, but feeding a whole chicken/rabit/etc? I don’t see the difference. I was just curious. Thanks.
By-products contain everything that dropped onto a dirty floor during processing. I do not eat anything with ‘animal by-products’ and I will not feed it to my dogs. By products often include fur/hair, hooves, beak, feathers, droppings (depending on whether the killing floor is also used for basic dressing). Feeding a dog an entire chicken means they get everything from the upper neck to the legs without feathers, beaks etc.
Just as Forsaken said by -products are not handled in the BEST of conditions. There is nothing wrong with necks and organs but only if they haven’t been laying in filth.
Which would you prefer? A clean chicken portion or one that has been covered in crap and god knows what else?
Also prey model you are using animals that have not been pieces out even WITH or without the fur and feathers still attached. At that point its not by products but the WHOLE product.
Fresh wholesome meat vs. hair and feathers.
