Good Raw Feeding Idea?

I heard from someone that I should put an add on Craiglist and ask for people’s raw meat or something. Like when they clean out their freezers and find raw meat they aren’t going to use.
So, raw feeders, good idea? Do you do it?
Thanks for any input and Merry Christmas! :D

I’ve been doing it for years. Of course, I lived in a small community and knew nearly everyone when I did it. It was a suggestion on a rawfeeding list I belong to.
What I’ve found is that its a good way for me to get venison, fish and other game. I do not get much in the way of “common” meat… since people pay for that, they rarely have it get to the point of wanting to get rid of it.
Is it risky? Maybe. I’d only take meat in its original package… still frozen. And I’d throw out about a third to half of what I’d get.
Frankly, if you let people you know around hunting season know that you’ll take scraps, bones, heart and liver from this year’s deer and last year’s leftover venison, you may end up with more than you can handle.

I wouldn’t do it. If the meat is bad enough that they won’t eat it, it might make your dogs sick. Who knows if it sat out in the heat for 3 days before they stuck in in the freezer.
When I asked my vet about the RAW diet a few years ago he said that he had so many dog coming in with salmonella, because dogs stomache’s arent like they were that many years ago. Dogs have adapted to eating cooked food, and their stonache’s can’t handle the raw meat.

i agree. go to a pet store that has premade raw, or buy it right from the grocery store. do your research and make sure you know what you’re doing if you do it yourself to make sure you’re giving your dog all the vitamins/minerals that he/she needs. dont get it from craiglist. there are sick people out there and you dont know what they have done to the meat, or how old it is, etc.

Raw food isn’t very good for dogs. Humans can get medical problems from raw meat, and so can dogs. Also, if people don’t want the meat, it may not be safe.

why ask on craigs list? if you feed raw, go to the store and buy some….if it has been sitting in someone’s freezer and they have not used it yet I’d be a little weary of what they think is wrong with it….
