THERE IS A DIET CALLED THE BARF DIET, STANDS FOR BONES AND REAL FOOD.
IT IS RAW MEAT AND BONES AND ALL. I KNOW A BREEDER THAT ONLY USES THIS DIET FOR HIS DOGS. HE SHOWS THEM TOO. I DON’T KNOW ALL THE PARTICULARS, AND YOU CAN PROBABLY SURF THE NET UNDER BARF DIET FOR THE DETAILS. I ALSO KNOW HE BUYS HIS MEAT IN FROZEN BLOCKS AND IT INCLUDES CHICKEN HEADS AND FEET! PERONALLY, YUK! BUT HEY, DOGS ARE CARNIVORS AND I’VE HEARD THIS IS VERY HEALTHY FOR THEM, SHINY COAT…ETC…
MANY BREEDERS AND SHOW DOG OWNERS SWEAR BY IT. I’M NOT SURE IF THERE ARE CERTAIN BONES THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED AS SOME TEND TO SLINTER AND CAN CAUSE INTERSTINAL DAMAGE, BUT I’M SURE IF YOU RESEARCH IT YOU WILL FIND OUT WHAT TO DO AND WHAT NOT.
Giving a Pit Bull raw meat might turn them into an unpredictable, aggressive animal. My sister’s pit was really good with her kids until he got hold of a bird in the yard. Then he killed any little animal he could get his teeth on. There is no need for animals you can’t trust.
Cooking the chicken will remove any risk of infection, and it will still be nutritious and apetizing for your dog, as will dog food.
Use beef instead. All dogs come from wolfs and they eat raw meat, so you can to a dog. It dose not make them mean. you need to also feed him dry dog food so he gets all the other things he needs. i feed my pit raw hambuger with raw eggs mixed in, he as the best coat
Raw chicken isn’t safe – so NO – don’t feed it to your dog – or your cat – or your parents, (unless you are doing really well in their will) ;o]
no, only because with modern slaughter and packaging methods, there is too great a risk of bacterial contamination to make eating it raw safe for your dog
I have got a staffy at home and i wouldnt feed him raw chicken because i dont think he would enjoy it as much as if it were cooked. Raw chicken can be dodgy so i wouldnt risk it because it might make him/her poorly. My dog has about 1/2lb of cooked mince mixed with biscuits and he really likes it.
I wouldn’t feed a dog of any kind raw meat just because of the varities of bacteria and contamination that the meat may contain. Dogs have almost iron-like stomachs, but can still get sick and die of bacteria. With the slaughterhouse practices and meat industry as it is today, I wouldn’t trust any raw food.
Want to feed your pit raw, go with carrots & peas. Most dogs love them, and you can grow them yourself.
you got that wrong..having a pitbull is a bad idea
I wouldn’t feed any dog raw meat of any kind personally. Not due to health risks though that’s a good factor. No I wouldn’t feed a dog raw meet of any kind because if there’s still enough blood in the meat your dog can develop a taste for blood and that particular animal. If you raise those on your property I can guarantee they will be killed if the dog is given a chance to get to them. It’s the Hunter in them, that and the fact they are descendants of the Wolf; anyone who knows dogs will tell you, once a dog tastes blood it no longer can be trusted around you, your family or other animals. Considering the rep Pitbull’s have I especially wouldn’t if you want to have a loving pet. However if you want a Pit Dog ( fighting dog ), then go ahead. But if you want a loving family pet I wouldn’t.
Sorry I’m babbling here, just would hate to see a good dog ruined.
Not if you’re a chicken.
nope. feeding dogs RAW food will make ur dog go after raw meet all the time. god other pets… something other than a dog? well if u get a new pet… not a dog, he will try 2 eat it
Only if you are a terrible person who wants a killer dog!
sure
No one here has ever experienced any of these lies they are telling about feeding raw. From EXPERIENCE its the best thing you could do for your dog food wise. Your dog was created to eat raw meat NOT grain and all those by products.I hate you people who get on here and try to sound so RESPONSIBLE cause you own a pitbull and read a few websites.Feed your dog raw,its whole digestive system was built for it.Ive raised 5 pitbulls all on raw and not one problem.Ive told everyone i know and they feed raw as well.Just mix it up and try to feed hearts, liver,at least once a week.NO PORK.Try it and you wouldnt want to go back to that expensive, instant poop maker again.Everyone else go to a few more sites and let someone tell you what a pitbull owner should or shouldnt do.”No other breed has this problem” and you have people getting bit all the time by these other breeds.Pitbulls dont lead in the people biting category, their the ones most likely to be reported.
You people hav’nt a clue of owning an APBT, you talking a load of **** to one another giving false info, you’ll sound like a bunch of cosiping neighbours talkin bull, research and learn then OWN!!
I HAVE A 7 MONTH OLD PITBULL PUPPY I FEED HIM CUT UP RAW STEAK A LITTLE BIT OF DOG FOOD AND A RAW EGG AND HES BIG AS FUCK HE LOOKS LIKE HE 1YR OLD AND HE PERFECTALY HEALTHY SO IT ALRITE TOO FEED DOGS THAT AND HE IS NOT VICIOUS HE IS VERY PROTECTIVE OF SMALL CHILDREN
IM SORRY BUT THESE ANWSERS ARE RETARTED!! I feed my pit bull raw chicken, beef, liver and rabbit sine he was 2months and he is extremely healthy and friendly!! Its old wives tale your hearing off these idiots!Go ahead its cheaper!!
I have a great tempered Pit.But today she killed my bird. I only had it for 3 months and I have had the pit for 1.5 years. She has never seen a bird inside before. And has never done anything bad liket hat either. She loves people and my small dog. But with her doing that is she at risk of hurting my small dog or me. Like I said she has not done anything like this before. What should I do?
I have never seen so many stupid people post on one website. Raw turns them evil?? lol idiots. Pitbulls are bad?? Fucking Idiots, do real research.
raw is good and so r pitbulls so fuck all of you who r critisizing, fukk off assholes
WOW, I felt retarded reading all this bulshit people write about pitbulls! I own 3 pitbulls I feed them raw chicken, raw beef, raw eggs…. and they have never been better. Attitude wise nothing has changed they still respect me and listen to me like always.
Ohh props to the guy who said that blood thing once your dog taste blood they will yearn for it jhajhaa thats classical!!!!
they have or do something called prey dive. they tend to like smaller animals and go after them. i mean thats what they did way back in the days. its just a matter or responsible ownership and good training methods. just keep a close eye on him. gopitbull.com is a great place to get info on your pitbulls (diet, training, and a whole lot of other info)
raw meat does not make a dog more aggresive or wont make it go after live animals.back when dogs didnt have humans as owners , dogs did not cook there food over a fire…they ate it RAW . do your research
raw diet is ok dnt believe the hype from people that dont know what there talking about do your own research i have a 9 week old pit and his on raw diet he loves it thrives off of it no health probs it is ok to feed raw vets even say it is ok so please do your own research and dont listen to these unaware people
Im a little late on this post but damn…people need to do their research on pitbulls. I have a 9 month old blue female and a raw diet was advised to me because she had skin allergies and all the bs food you buy in the store wasnt good for her. Since i started using it i have seen an amazing diffrence in her coat and whole well being. As far as wanting blood? lol, get real…..there are more people bit by these little rat dogs than pits, stop hating the breed!
Dogs have a shorter intestine track than us humans and a more powerful digestive juice, hence they eat all sorts of things that would killa human. You all need to watch or read some stuff on wolves and dogs digestion.
When have you seen a pack of dogs eat a wild fowl, especially road kill? enough to know they are fine with eating fowl and rotting foul fowl. When do they forgo they intestines and bile? NEVER, they know no eating etiquette, so even if you are getting the most rot gut stank nasty meat, your dog will undoubtedly be fine. That being said, you should use good quality meat if you want your dog to smell good, you are what you eat.
I feed my blue pit raw food such as meat, eggs, and raw chicken. And he is in beast mode right now.. Pits are some of the best breeds of dogs you can get.. And when stupid bitches ass hoes get on here and start talkin alot noise, it just goes to show they be bull shittin to breed too much.. Fuck em
I have a 5 week old pit, when’s a good time to start feeding him raw meat, how should I prep it? What about raw eggs? And what’s the best meat to give to him?
For those IDIOTS that say pitbulls can not be trusted and will turn vicious because they taste blood are very IGNORANT! Are you owners yourself? If so and they are as you say, then shame on you as it’s most likely the owners fault. My 20 month pit loves all dogs and it’s actually the other dogs that are always barking and rushing towards her. My pit just looks at them and prob thinking, what the hell is wrong with you all. I’m sure that if my pit was taught/trained to attack them, it’ll be hell, but I’m a responsible owner and loves the breed.
As for raw feeding, I’m interested in this. I’ve heard from a lot of owners who show their dog (awesome coats and build) swear by this. I also hear that it helps with the allergies that are associated with pits as well. As a responsible owner of a misunderstood breed (due to ignorance), I will continue to do research before making such a move. My dogs overall health is my priority.
Thanks to those who’ve provided good insight and shame on those who believe what they’ve heard and read.
Hey Blue Pit,
What recipes do you have for your now 12 month old Pit? I’m still gonna do my research but just interested on what you are doing. I concur, don’t hate the breed, hate the owners.
Thanks!
i have pitbulls, american bullies, a smooth fox terrier and cockerspaniel, i show them in the ring and others are pet. and i feed raw, to the asses that think it will eat live animals thats ignorance talking, to the asses that it will make the dogs more agressive thats also ignorance..too many asses here.
