Raw Feeding Cats And Effect On Prey Drive?
I’ve done some research here on Answers and through the various links I’ve seen, and I am interested in switching my two kitties to a raw diet.
For those who raw feed their cats, I’m curious as to whether you’ve noticed any change in your cats prey drive. Yes, my cats are indoor cats. However, they do sneak out once in a while to roll around in the sun and snack on grass. One cat however likes to hunt–mice, birds, chipmunks… 
and she happily eats what she catches unless I can get it away first.
I’d much prefer a raw diet that I fix to give her the raw meat she craves rather than risk parasites and disease from wild critters. Again, I do my best to keep her inside and safe, and to keep the wildlife safe from her!
But, I’m wondering if you all think that a raw diet would provide the nutrition she might be lacking.

To be honest, I don’t think feeding a raw diet will calm the instinct to hunt and kill prey- it’s hardwired into kitty brains. They’ll still try to get out, and they’ll still want to kill any small critters they run into, but not because they’re not getting the right nutrition!
A raw diet is a wonderful thing if you’ve got the dedication and know-how. I’ve only just recently started adding raw meat to my cats’ rotation, and they really do seem to love it. The younger one still wants to pounce the birds that come close enough to the window, and she still harasses my pet sugar gliders through their cage at every chance she gets, so her prey drive is still 100%.

I agree with Ruby with the drive to hunt. Feeding raw doesn’t exacerbate their drive at all. I will say that my younger one, Marble 6 mos old, enjoys ‘attacking’ her food by rearing up and hitting the food with her paw. This gets annoying since the food sticks to her paw and she shakes it all over the place. I do feel that raw does provide nutrition cats may lack from eating dry and/or wet food. Good luck!
PS: Make sure you continue to do research and to feed 75%-80% muscle meat, 10%-15% organs and 5%-10% bone. Also, do include raw meaty bones every now and then for their teeth.
