Great question!
To be honest, I don't think feeding a raw diet will calm the instinct to hunt and kill prey- it's hardwired into kitty brains. They'll still try to get out, and they'll still want to kill any small critters they run into, but not because they're not getting the right nutrition!
A raw diet is a wonderful thing if you've got the dedication and know-how. I've only just recently started adding raw meat to my cats' rotation, and they really do seem to love it. The younger one still wants to pounce the birds that come close enough to the window, and she still harasses my pet sugar gliders through their cage at every chance she gets, so her prey drive is still 100%. :)
Best of luck with switching your kitties to raw. :)

I agree with Ruby with the drive to hunt. Feeding raw doesn't exacerbate their drive at all. I will say that my younger one, Marble 6 mos old, enjoys 'attacking' her food by rearing up and hitting the food with her paw. This gets annoying since the food sticks to her paw and she shakes it all over the place. I do feel that raw does provide nutrition cats may lack from eating dry and/or wet food. Good luck!
PS: Make sure you continue to do research and to feed 75%-80% muscle meat, 10%-15% organs and 5%-10% bone. Also, do include raw meaty bones every now and then for their teeth.
