That should get anyone started!!!! I highly recommend catinfo and catnutrition. Both are great places to start for any beginner with time-tested recipes that I purrsonally trust and use with all 13 of my cats.
I cannot even begin to tell you how changing to raw saved 3 of my cats. One with IBD and 2 who were suffering UTI’s, Bladder stones, kidney stones, obesity and tons of other ailments. All from feeding dry food! Now all 13 are healthy well and happier than they have ever been.
Cats are obligate carnivores! Feed them what nature intended. Meat! Your kitties will thank you for it!!!
(Wow! I finally beat that 999 message! LOL!)
To Barb: Raw food does not cause worms. Cats are obligate carnivores. Thier bodies are designed to absord nutrients from meat only. Do you know why? because that is what they are meant to eat. Meat. Please… for the sake of every cat on earth… research before continuing to spread myths and old wives tales please. Dry food is the absolute WORST thing to feed your cat. At least feed canned if you can’t feed raw.
Hi there…Yahoo Answers for some reason is having trouble with allowing the posting of websites … giving a “999″ error message.

Predators such as dogs and cats have enzymes to take care of bugs like e coli. Why do you think wild ones do not get sick. Even that loving house cat setting and purring on your lap if it gose out side kills and eats things. I know you are going to say that meat cleaner but they hide what they do not eat and come back later as far as worms. If you deworm on a regular basse the cat well be fine.
I found no other places than the ones you have gotten here. Why people think feeding an animal what it is made to eat well hurt it I well never understand
Well shoot, you guys didn’t miss a trick! I don’t have anything much to add ….. but there are some Yahoo groups that are all about raw feeding. They’re sort of niched groups, like one is dedicated to feeding whole prey, one is all about the supplement Instincts TC, etc.
I did learn a lot from them although I ended up hella confused about which model was best. I finally chose the whole prey model, albeit ground, because you don’t have to supplement. I use chicken necks for dental health so the fact that it is ground isn’t a big whoop.
Another Yahoo group is Whole Cat Health. Like the name suggests, they’re about everything to do with cats, not just diet, but since diet plays such a large role in cats’ health, it’s the biggest item of discussion.

I use raw kangaroo meat because it is high in nutrient and low in fat and my cat gets 100g each day as well as a raw chicken wing once a week. If and when you choose to give your cat raw meat just make sure that it’s human grade meat and not the “pet grade” or petfood raw meat because those contain really high levels of preservatives!
Some experts state that you should feed you cats three (3) times a day. Others state that two (2) times a day, morning and evening are enough for adults. Very few, which I know of, suggest only one (1) meal a day. Here is one that we use:
1 lb. of ground rabbit with bone
1 lb of ground chicken with bone
1 lb of ground goat or lamb
1/2 lb of cooked oatmeal
Mix completely and portion out so that your companion will get two Percent (2%) of their body weight, if they are an adult. If they are not an adult yet we suggest you feed them two percent (2%) of the desired body weight. You can portion it out into meal size amounts. Or you can freeze in lump sums and defrost naturally, for use. For example you may mix enough for thirty days (30) worth of meal. Separate and freeze the amounts needed on a weekly basis. You be the judge of what you feed, when you feed, and any combinations you feed
My cats LOVE their Stella & Chewy’s raw diet! You can look them up online, read all about the food and see where they sell their products! Good luck! One of the best out there
Do NOT, ever, feed your cat raw meat. It can cause worms.
They should eat dry food like Purina Cat Chow, for cats over 1 year old. My vet recommends 1/2 cup per day so they don’t become over weight which can cause diabetes. You can give them about a teaspoon of canned food per day either on top of their dry food, or mixed in.
If it’s a kitten, Purina Kitten Chow. They should eat 1 cup of food a day, with a teaspoon of canned food either on top or mixed in.

Would be careful of completely raw because of e-coli and other toxins from uncooked meats. Prefer natural foods that are preservative free.
