Mistaken Information On Feeding Bones &raw Meat?

Do you find yourself rolling your eyes at people who think you should never give dogs a chicken bone? I do not give my dogs any COOKED bones at all, but I give raw meaty bones 3 to 5 times a week, with never an issue. My dogs get bones often, though, so they may be less enthusiastic about swallowing pieces bigger than they should. Do you catch flak for your feeding practices? I live in an economically depressed area and get a bunch of crap from people about how high on the hog my dogs eat. Are your dogs eating steak while you are having ramen? Mine are…haha!

Which is exactly why I direct people who want to learn more to more Raw friendly places to ask like the yahoo groups because half the people who answer these questions don’t know WHAT they are talking about. They are just repeating what they have heard.
My neighbor above me used to get a TON of flack about feeding her mastiff raw mainly because there were days he was eating better than her, mostly when she had lamb culls from upstate. Of course she ignores in and having her living above me has been great prep work for myself in getting ready to feed my next dogs on this diet.
Of course since he’s this big old Mastiff everyone says he’s gonna go Cujo on her or someone else, namely my two and half year old because of raw food. Bruno can’t be bothered to bite at flies on a GOOD day. If he snaps on anyone its going to be in defense of her or me and my kid. Hell he ignores the hyper small breeds we run into at the park, well if you consider dropping his paw on their heads ignoring them.
ADD: the best look though was from our temp UPS guy when she got in a meat shipment from U.S Wellness. when he found out that only 10% of what was in there was for her, he rolled his eyes and muttered about “Pet crazy owners”
Ha my dog eats better and lives better!! He gets solid gold dry food and wellness core dry food..sometime with wet, I feed him raw sometimes, he gets homemade treats and he will be getting homemade dogs food soon. And he gets only the best of everything. Me and my fiancee just bought him a large dog house and put it together tonight, and then made a wrap around deck for it lol…he is the king!!
Right there with ya. My yard looks like a grave yard. We jokingly tell people that they’re from all the burglars that the dogs have caught. I’d rather not eat for a week, as long as the animals get what they need and deserve. I always tell the people that give me flak ” Don’t comment on my practices unless you’re willing to listen to what I have to say about you feeding your dogs crap”! My dogs look forward to being left at home when we go to work cos they know they’ll get a big meaty bone. Keep up the good work and remember that when people say something, it’s only an opinion. Funnily enough everyone being different makes the world go round. Otherwise I think we’d all be very bored.
