Feeding Fish In A Raw Diet (for My Dog)?

If I buy a whole fish, should I feed her the skin as well, or is it best to remove it? What about organs in the fish? the Bones?
Thank you

How long have you been researching raw feeding? It is VERY important to be well informed, it’s not always something that you’d want to dive into head first…
The fish is fed whole – bones, skin, eyes organs and all. Depending on what school of thought you aggree with in the raw feeding circles, whole carcass feeding has the appropriate ration of offal, meat and bone.

Make sure it is a type of fish that is parasite free (Pacific Coast Salmon is NOT without a hard freeze).
I feed the whole dang fish. Sometimes I get chum (fish guts and heads) from the wharf and freeze it for them then feed it.
Edit: LadyRen– eating raw, never frozen, Pacific Coast Salmon can dang well kill a human just as easily as a dog. Its NOT suitable for sushi. I’d love for you (or your vet friend) to tell me what the Samoyeds were eating in Northern Siberia less than 100 years ago– the Samoyed people, who were subsistance living, were dang well NOT wasting fuel cooking food for them– nor were my grandparents cooking for them 30 years later and into the 1970’s on their farm. Education is a wonderful thing – sounds like I need to find out who your vet friend is so that I can refer people away from her.

You can feed the skin and bones, too…. as long as it is raw, then the bones are small and soft enough for the dog to chew up. My dog LOVES fish skin.
I’ve never actually given him an entire fish, but typically, a raw prey model diet would include the head, eyes, organs… everything.
Just make sure the fish is fresh…. cold water fish are best.

Feed it all unless your dog has problems with it! What kind of fish are you feeding?

The raw diet that you are trying is a crock, according to my vet friend, sorry. Few vets feed their dogs that way, and few recommend it. Your dog is not a wolf, and raw is not natural to your dog, and for sure raw fish is not.
