Just like anything else, some dogs can’t tolerate chicken. I have one dog who urps up chicken fat/skin but can eat chicken and bones just fine…. and NONE of my dogs will eat chicken that isn’t darned COLD.
I have 3 dogs (of 4) who don’t much like turkey.. it doesn’t make them sick, they just don’t like it… although they like turkey necks. I have one dog who would rather not eat pork roast but likes ribs etc… all of my dogs eat meat with bone a LOT better than just meat.
None of my dogs like whole organ meat (other than chicken livers) so I buy ground organ meat.
I maneuver their diets to fit them… and would suggest you do what works for your dogs.

Chicken is not a RED meat, it is Poultry.
< ——-Pilot is allergic to “chicken” and can not eat it at all. Maybe your dog is also allergic.
There are many highly respected people here with equally highly respected answers, that love the raw diet. I’m personally just not a supporter of the raw meat diet.
I just wanted to bring it to your attention that your dog may be allergic to chicken.
CALRIPKEN…………..Dogs are NOT in the wild anymore, they are now DOMESTICATED and have been for MANY years….many many years. Sorry, this is the one issue I don’t go along with though I’m a huge active poster. I’m a simple person with good answers, but….I just don’t go for the raw diet. HOWEVER, I DO RESPECT THOSE THAT CHOOSE TO GO THAT ROUTE. )

Eating raw meat can be natural for a dog, but most natural when the meat is freshly killed (for lack of a better term). I’m assuming you dont have a chicken farm, and are feeding him raw chicken you bought, which has a higher chance to have harmful bacteria on it. the same goes for pork. So unless it’s “fresh” meat, i’d be careful and just cook it anyway.

Okay, first of all- dogs ARE meant to eat raw meat. That’s what they would eat in the WILD!! They do not catch it, cook it, then eat it. They just catch it and eat it. Chickens included.
It may be something your dog specifically cannot tolerate. Or your dog needs to gradually get introduced to it because it’s a big difference between beef and chicken and your dog may be sensitive to it. So- try small amounts with beef and see how he handles it.
There is something called the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet for dogs and cats. I knew people that fed rabbit to their dogs. Just be careful of bones! Glamour- you are comparing apples to oranges. Humans and apes have a different diet because we’re not the same species. But many do have an omnivorous diet, just like humans do. If we ate like apes- we’d probably be a lot healthier! Convenience and money as well as other things plays into the whys of why we don’t chomp on leaves, forage for bugs, eat fresh fruits, etc. But imagine all the health problems we wouldn’t have if we did!
Dogs ARE built to hunt and eat raw animals. Being domesticated does not eliminate the physiology of their digestive system and suddenly turn them into little people that require a cooked dinner on a plate with napkins and a fork. They still have the basic needs they’ve had for years. They just don’t have to go get it themselves- that’s the biggest difference.
Just because we provide them food in convenient little pellets doesn’t mean that’s what they’re now built to eat. The main reason we do that is convenience. For one- most of us don’t have the means to constantly buy animals for butcher or fresh animals from the butcher and 2- even those who could, many wouldn’t want to for a slew of reasons. So pelleted food is available as a convenient means to give the dog basics of what it needs. This does NOT MEAN it is the ideal diet for them. There is a very good biological basis for using B.A.R.F. diets. Dogs and cats on these diets tend to have lower incidents of skin allergies, obesity, and intolerance issues. This dog clearly has an issue- whether it’s simply something he’s not used to or is intolerant to remains to be seen!

We fed our dogs the B.A.R.F diet for years until it got to expensive. They were never as healthy and the vet said she had never seen such healthy teeth on adult dogs…
That being said, our dogs never had trouble with chicken. Maybe your dog has an allergy to chicken. It is possible. What breed is your dog? Some dogs are more prone to allergies than others. I have a rat terrier and the most common health problem they have are allergies.
If I were you I’d just stay away from chicken and feed other foods. I know chicken is pretty much one of the cheapest meats, but you don’t want to make your dog ill.
And no, dogs stomachs aren’t more geared towards the meat from hooved animals, necessarily. I think he probably has an allergy.
Good luck! If we could afford it we’d definately still feed raw food to our dogs. It’s the best.

I have been feeding raw chicken (leg quarters) to my dog for 3 years without any problem. She is a Catahoula. Before we got her we had 2 wolf hybrids that died at ages 12 and 13 that were fed raw chicken from the time they were pups. Never a problem and boy did they have great looking teeth! But if this is all you will be feeding, make sure they have a high quality dry dog food also. They need to have a complete balanced diet and the meat alone is not enough. I really don’t know why your dog would be throwing it up. Is your dog little or big? Maybe that would make a difference, I’m not sure. I would stay away from raw pork and definitely no raw lamb. There are some groups you could join that are very focused and knowledgeable about the raw meat topic.

I am on a holistic diet for ferrets and a few people there feed there dogs raw. There would be more than happy to help you. Some dogs do have sensitivities and chicken is a major one. first of all no dogs are suppose to have pork raw or cooked. theres WAY to much bacteria in it and it could even kill your dog. you should just feed it beef. chicken is good but if its throwing it up just do beef.

i did this once the vet said something about dogs stomachs are sensitive to things in the chicken and this is what is causing it
