The rule of thumb for raw feeding is 2%-3% of the dogs adult weight. I have 2 high energy dogs and feed them 4.5%. It’s a little more involved than cups of meat and veggies, if you’re going to completely raw feed your dog needs muscle meat, organs, bones (I don’t do veggies, some do). See http://www.rawdogranch.com for an overview of the raw diet. Good luck.
I feed raw prey model so my 9 month old, 75lb mix gets between 2.5 and 4lbs of meat at a meal, he eats what he wants and the rest goes in the fridge for later. Look up BARF and you should get all the info you could wish for.
add: As for expense that completely depends on your area and the quality of your suppliers. Most of my meat comes from Walmart market specials. I also order from online suppliers when they have really good deals on hard to find things. Right now I’m spending between 65-90$ a month as opposed to 100+ that I spent a month feeding him kibble.
I fed my 90lb boxer a raw diet for approx 18 months. I fed him 3 meat patties (1/2 lb each) and one veg patty (again 1/2 lb each). I bought it from a distributor that sold and prepared organic humanely killed meat. Whether you prep it yourself or buy it already prepped the cost is enormous. I’m in Canada, I spent approx $200/month on this. In the end he was loosing too much weight and the homeopathic vet wanted to feed him more meat. I declined, couldn’t afford the cost.
Dog’s are not geared for digesting raw meats properly. As they have long been domesticated from their wolf history, they have been “trained”, so to speak, to eating cooked foods (yes the meat within the dry dog food is cooked).
It’s sort of like when humans choose to become vegetarians; their stomach and digestive systems loose the ability to digest meats properly, as our bodies were not made to eat meat. And, when the person eats meat again, whether on purpose or accident, they become ill.
You’re better off cooking the meat if you choose to feed fresh meat.
As for how much, I’m not sure. But I would guess a lot for a dog that size.

Mel, $200. is outrageous. Feeding your 90lb dog high quality REAL food should cost between 150.00-165.00/month
