I have Afghan Hounds, the last one that passed away was 17.
One of my girls only lived to 14, but, I think that was because I didn’t start her on raw till she was over 6 years old. I think she would have lived a few more good years if she had had raw from puppyhood.
I’ve been feeding raw for over 8 years, my senior border collie crossed the bridge at age 15 1/2 this past December, he started raw at age 7. I currently have a 9 yr old aussie, 8 yr old border collie, 2.5 yr old border collie, and 1 yr old border collie. I have NEVER had any problem with diarrhea chronic or other wise in the time I have been feeding raw
Well Im hoping my dogs live a very long time.
Ive only raw fed for 3 years and both my dogs have eaten raw since they were pups. (one from 8 weeks of age, the other weaned onto raw).
Staffies normally live to about 10-12 years of age. Ive met one that was 18 years old! I definately believe raw food increases longetivity.
Tiger my German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix is 9 years old and acts like a puppy, first dog I’ve ever raw fed. I expect him to at least have 5+ years left on him!
Never experienced chronic diarrhea with him…or any bad things while on raw. On kibble, yes. On raw, no.
I can’t answer that because my dogs are still alive, I’ve been raw feeding for over 6 years. Westies have a life expectancy of 14 -16 years, my dogs are 6 and 7. These are the first dogs I’ve raw fed.
Have fun with the chronic diarrhea. I can’t tell you how many raw fed dogs have this. I don’t know if the owners are doing it wrong, or what, but so many of them have diarrhea that doesn’t stop until we finally convince the owners to try some packaged dog food.
But to each his own…
