How Many Raw Eggs A Week Would Be Appropriate For My 24 Pound Dog?

I recently have been giving my dog raw eggs in addition to Innova EVO dog food. He’s getting one raw egg every two days. I’m not sure if I’m feeding to much raw egg or too little.
These are organic eggs from trader joes BTW

Raw eggs are not good for you or your dog. Dogs get salmonella just like people do and can become very ill from it. If you insist on feeding your dog people food make sure its properly cooked. Most pet stores sell supplements that will give your dog the extra protein if that’s what your after. I eat organic foods all the time but they are cooked. Just because eggs are organic does not mean they are free from salmonella. You can also catch salmonella from you dog if he gets it from eating the raw eggs.
What is with all the thumbs down? If you don’t want educated honest answers then don’t ask peoples opinions.

Sorry for all the crappy answers.
I think what you are feeding currently seems appropriate.
Just so all those propaganda spreading people know, it takes around 50 eggs for a 30lb dog to really consider a biotin deficiency. With the Whole egg that is even less likely to happen. Feeding parts of eggs unbalances the nutrients of the egg. All an egg is is a rmb just the protein is on the inside and the calcium is on the outside.
As with anything, too much of one thing is what creates imbalances.
And bindi made a good point about dog food. It has only been around for 50 to 60 years which is not enough time to change a digestive system, just enough time to wreck havoc on it though.

You can give your dog raw eggs for as long as you wish. It is an excellent ‘tonic’ to boost the immune system. Once the immune system is balanced, your dog will start suffering diarrhoea, which is the time you need to stop feeding him raw eggs.
Young dogs can take a raw egg or with shell, mixed with food, more often than older dogs. An older dog does not need a raw egg more than once a fortnight.
I fed all my 6 generations raw eggs and it never fails. A hard boiled egg is useful when a dog suffers unexpected diarrhoea and therefore used only when required.

Sorry but dog food has only been around for about 60 years, that is far, far, far……..from enough to change a digestive system, outward appearance yes, insides no.
An egg a few times week is great, include the shell if you can too.
Your dog is the best indicator of how many is to many . If the his stools get loose to many eggs, cut back on them.
Raw eggs can cause a biotin deficiency, however chances of the that happening are very very low. Especially if you’re feeding the hole egg. The amount of eggs your dog would have to eat is unreal, plus before that would happen your dog would very likely puke or get explody butt.

dogs were domesticated by humans, their digestive systems have gone from eating raw meat and bones to kibble that is easily digested. they cant handle the raw meats and bones that is why if going to the silly raw food diet you need to GRADUALLY transition them to it.
why give your dog raw eggs? cooked eggs are okay, great for a dog who has not been able to keep other foods down, either from food poisoning or just being sick. eggs are easy on the stomach and okay i would think as a once a week treat. just no shell and cook the darn thing unless you want to eat a raw egg yourself and see what happens.

One raw every couple of days is fine. If he’s been tolerating it and not having any bathroom issues there is no need to up or lower the amount.
ADD: RAW eggs are just fine, people. Dogs have the type of digestive systems made to digest bone and fur. Humans don’t. A healthy dog has nothing to fear from Salmonella.

I heard that feeding raw eggs was not good for them. I cant remember exactly what it was, but it had something to do with it blocking something so they were not able to absorb all of their vitamins and minerals.

  8. Chanhass says:

raw eggs carry the risks of salmonella- easily deadly to dogs.
won’t hard boiled eggs have the same effect?

only give ur dog one egg a week or less because to much calcium for ur dog is bad for their bones!!!!!!!!! it could weekn them making easy fractures or brakes soo not as much egg or milk soo on give them dry food with meet and water to help dry food not to expand in their stomaches only giving them egg once a week or less
    hope i helped (=
ok soo i see many people do not agree what i have ritten although i say nothing but the truth. trust me on this because some peple are giving such bad info (wont say who) that may seem convincing but may actually hurt your dog really bad!!!!!
also can u tell me what breed he is because the calcium may not affect him as bad as it affects some breeds!!!!!!!!!!

I raise chickens and I won’t feed raw. I think one every other day. You can eliminate the white. Especially raw whites.
