Dogs are not wild animals like wolves, and their digestive systems are not the same. Wild canines kill and eat live prey, and many parts of the body, contents, and bones. Their digestive systems are used to this. Domestic dogs were not meant to eat store-bought meats. These meats carry bacteria and parasites, and are not a balanced diet. Scientists and veterinarians have spent over 50 years and billions of dollars researching and developing healthy balanced diets for dogs. Mine eat dry kibble and most of my dogs and cats live into their mid to late teens. On the other hand, we often see serious health and digestive problems from "raw" feeders.

if you feed hamburg, it should be boiled. egg shells will not hurt your dog & they are full of calicum. grind or break them up if it bothers you.
if he is on a quality food, he should gain. you can add rice, boiled white or sweet potatoes, pastas, to his regular kibble. fresh or boiled veggies won't hurt either

One of my Great Danes has a higher metabolism so has a hard time with keeping on weight. My vet recommended one cup of cottage cheese (not low-fat), one cup of boiled rice and some chicken broth all mixed together. She absolutely loves it and she now keeps on the weight great, plus as a bonus her coat shines and is the heathiest it's ever been.
