When Feeding A Raw Food Diet, Can You Give Cooked Food Snacks In Between?

I know you are not supposed to give raw and cooked together but wondering, can you just give cooked treats in between meals? Or are you supposed to feed raw only?

Nah, there’s no problem with raw meat and cooked meat at the same time – they digest in essentially the same way. The issue is with KIBBLE (grain based kibble anyway) and raw meat at the same time, because kibble takes a lot longer to digest (due to the corn) and essentially “stops up” the raw meat digestion. But even then, the chances that your dog will develop a problem are slim.
Kudos to you for trying to do what you think is best for your dogs!
Personally, while I respect your choice, I don’t understand the “raw diet” approach. Proponents of raw say that their reasoning is because a raw diet is closer to what feral dogs eat in the wild….but feral dogs (or wolves, or any other canine that lives in the wild) live only about 5 years on average, while domestic dogs fed on even a crappy “Wal-Mart kibble” diet live on average 10 years.
So, why feed raw?
So maybe my answer isn’t what you wanted…and in fact, I’m still a little irritated at a “raw-diet” feeder at a recent training clinic, who squeezed 2 pounds of raw ground chicken out to her dogs, in a crate next to my dogs, then didn’t clean her hands. I know dogs are less susceptible to e-Coli and salmonella than us humans, but I DETEST raw-feeders who don’t realize the threat to the rest of us humans around them in Clinic or Show situations!
Raw-feeders, keep your nasty raw-meat germs to yourself! Bring antiseptic wipes, and clean your hands after you feed your dogs, whenever you’re feeding your dogs in group situations.
Did u answer your own question? You said “I know you are not supposed to give raw and cooked together” My sister and I have experimented with Bull Terriers and Malamutes and Yorkies. None of them did well on the r a w diet. It was ok when they were wild animals, but doesnt sit well with the domesticated dogs of today. very hard on their digestive systems. we now feed them brown rice and chicken or veal or lamb they have the shiniest coats ever and never barf anymore. And no commercial dog food.
I have not heard of not feed “cooked” as treats or inbetween meals.
I have only heard of not feeding complete with raw purely because of the imbalance.
Might get other answers giving alternative views, and if so I am interested in them, but I cannot see that as a problem.
