Raw Feeders: A Couple Kitten Feeding Questions. (prey-model Diet Only Please)?

1) Do you feed your kitten (think just weaned) bones of any animals? If so, what kinds? I fed my kitten a peice of fish with rib bones and spine intact, but she didn’t eat any of it that I could see (i also fed deer muscles and deer liver) It was her very first meal, and she took to it like a dream.
2) Can I feed my just weaned kitten whole prey (mice, etc.) Or should I cut it up for her tiny jaws?
3) Should I just let her eat as much as she wants or is there some kind of amount I need to try to stick to?
Thanks a bunch =D, and if anyone feeds prey-model diet raw food to their dogs or cats, please email me, I’d love to talk to everyone I can about the diet.
Also, if you don’t feed a raw diet and are only going to reply with something like “EW GROSS you feed your kitten raw meat!!???” Please don’t answer, contribute to the answers or you are wasting everyone’s time.

Good luck with feeding raw. You are correct. That is how felines evolved – eating live prey.
If you want to reproduce that diet, I would stick with small prey, like mice, rabbit and small birds. This is what they would eat in the wild. I would avoid meats like deer, pig or other large animal.
Kittens need a lot of food as they are growing rapidly. Feed them as much as they comfortably consume.
If you are going to cut up small pieces for kittens, don’t select only certain parts. Don’t forget, in the wild cats would eat most of the carcass, including flesh, bones, skin, organs, etc. Each body part contains certain nutrients and you must not omit any. For example, bones are an important source of calcium. About the only good thing that can be said for commercial foods is that they do add the necessary vitamins and minerals that cats require, even if they are sometimes artificial.

I wish I could help! But I didn’t learn about raw feeding until my kittens were two years old.
I think you might get better answers if you join some of the raw feeding groups – don’t know if you already know about them or not.
