Raw Meat Bones are highly recommended. It does everything for them that nature intended… gives them all those vitamins dogs need too… anything raw.

Definitely! As a part of a well-researched raw diet, that’s a great thing to do! I bet she loves it, too.

Raw is better than cooked, but avoid weight bearing bones. Actually, when my dogs were on a raw diet they ate chicken backs and necks which were ground because one of them tended to be a gulper rather than chewing bones and that can be dangerous. Because of this, I don’t give my dogs any real bones. Cooked beef bones can break teeth. My German Shepherd dog that i used to have broke one of her big canine teeth on one.
I prefer to use a big Galileo bone or something along that line for them to chew on.
I also buy hard biscuits that are healthy. My dogs love Old Mother Hubbard, Bark Bones and once a week they get a Busy Bone or Denta Stix.
I am very careful about feeding them and don’t give them any rawhides. Many dogs get very sick from rawhides.

yes, Yes, YES – raw meaty bones are one of the best hings you could feed your dog. Just remember that ‘meaty’ is a very important part of the definition. In order to meet all of its nutritional requirements a dog needs to eat about 70-80% raw meat, 10-15% edible bone and 10-15% offal. As this is balanced over the week it is not hard to calculate.
Our dog and cats eat chicken, lamb, pork, fish, beef, kangaroo and even goat. Just remember that the meals need to be large enough for the dog to work for its dinner – this cleans and flosses the teeth while also kick starting the digestive juices flowing. The bones should be edible – PLEASE don’t feed those huge shin, marrow or knuckle bones – they can break teeth.
More and more vets are researching and learning about canine nutrition and are both feeding and recommending these more natural diets.

YES!! But not just the bones the meat on the bones too. My dogs have always been fed raw. It’s the best for a carnivore’s system. Check out the Rawfeeding Yahoo group. They are awesome, so supportive and informative.
Unfortunately, you will probably get many answers from uninformed, and fearful people explaining that it will make them “bloodthirsty” or will give them ecoli or something crazy like that. But a carnivore’s system is made to handle that type of diet, not overcooked and processed grains.
Good luck, and do a little research on a dogs diet, and even better how dog food is made. I’m sure you’ll make the best decision for your dog. Also, a homeopathic vet is a great reference as well. Most standard vets are a little too worried about getting sponsors and making money from food sales to be concerned about nutrition.

Yes you can, but is healthier if you will boil them alittle first and puts alittle flavor to them….no chicken bones no matter if raw or cooked, they splinter bad…..

I have a pit bull of my own, and one of my friends knows someone who breeds them. Whether the type of breed, you’re not supposed to give them CHICKEN bones. Beef is the best bone, as its sturdy and doesn’t splinter off. My pit bull has the strongest teeth – she chewed through a stainless steel coffee mug!
Try giving your pit bull a cow knuckle. They last forevver and are thick.

I don’t think it is a very good thing to do because if bones are crushed, their sharp edges will hurt the dog.
If you are to give him chew on a big bone but don’t expect him to eat it, then it will be fine once in a while.
However, most experts discourage this feeding totally.

HECK YEAH it;s great for her!! pit bulls LOVE chewing and they love challenges. Raw meaty bones are great. keep at it and stay away from commercail dog food.
Also you may want to add in other foods. whole uncarcked raw eggs should be given at least 3 times a week along with bones. It’s a great source of amino acids and additional animal protein. And also it’s important you supplement your dog’s diet with tripe and/or organs once a week. You can ushually get ground organs and tripe from your butcher. just ask for scraps. And hare-today gone tommorow is a great website. They have almost every type of raw item for an awesome price. Do not feed any grains. Feel free to feed fruits and veggies if you dog likes them. But it’s not a nessecity.

PS and to Iggy raw chikcen bones are fine. Cooked chikcen bones are another story. And it’s best to avoid the leg bones of beef, moose, and buffalo, and venison and pork too if your dog is small.

I have a 3 year old pitbull and he can chew through a breeze block (big grey ones that weigh 10-15kg) with ease so i say raw beefy bones all the way :)
