Wow it is crazy how many people answer when they are just regurgitating something they heard with out researching or finding out the truth.
For those of you who think dogs aren’t designed for raw, or that believe they are omnivores please look at facts and not opinions. In the scientific community animals are put in to orders, families, classes, etc. The order determines what the eat (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, insectivore). Scientifically dogs belong to the order Carnivore. They are scientifically classified as Carnivores, not Omnivores. There for they are meant to eat meat. People will sometimes mistake the fact that they are opportunistic with being a carnivore. Opportunistic animals will eat anything to survive. but that doesn’t mean that what they eat will make them thrive, or is what nature designed for them to eat. Just like god alligators are opportunistic and will eat almost anything. We have had gators that will eat some plants, bread, one got into a watermelon, they love marsh mellows, and one even tried to eat a dog bowl. I’m sure that no one would argue that gators are carnivores though, dogs are the same way when it comes to food. The raw diet is what dogs ate for thousands of years, it is also one of the healthiest diets for a dog. Kibble is actually a new concept and ever since it was introduced skin, allergy, and stomach issues have increased in domestic dogs. I am not saying all kibble is bad, some brands make a food that your dog will live a healthy life on ( I feed Buffalo Blue) But for people claiming raw is bad, if you did your research you’d find it is actually amazingly healthy if done right and the dogs on a raw diet have little to know skin, stomach, or allergy issues.
To answer your question it is OK for you to feed him the raw pig bones. Marrow is very good for dogs and this includes pick marrow. Raw bones are actually one of the healthiest treats that you can give your dog. Cooked bones are what can be dangerous. I would caution though to see how your dog does with the treat. Because kibble digest differently and at a different rate some dogs that are fed both kibble and raw bones will get an upset stomach and/or diarrhea. Some dogs like mine do great and have no problems eating kibble and getting raw as supplements and treats. I would recommend feeding a small amount and then watching to see if it bothers him. if not go ahead and feed.

Yes it’s all right, I feed my dogs a completely raw meat diet. Some raw feeders say that pork is bad to feed, but I don’t believe it, I know of a lot of raw feeders that say pork is perfectly fine to feed. Raw bones are great for dogs to eat, cooked bones are dangerous, it’s fine for her to eat the bones raw, but I prefer to thaw the bones. Some people occasionally feed frozen meat (usually when they forget to thaw the meat) but I prefer to always feed it thawed. Breed doesn’t matter very much, although working dogs do benefit from raw more than just a pet.
You cannot feed only raw pig meat and bones though. To have a properly balanced raw diet you’ll also have to give her some chicken, beef, turkey, and organs as well, organs are very important, and finely chopped vegetables are a good addition. If you only want to give her bones every now and then, you don’t have to worry about that, but if you’d like to start her on an only raw meat diet, then you’d have to start giving her other types of meats, organs, and a few veggies if you like.

Yes you can. Some raw feeders don’t agree with feeding pork and some do.
ribs would be best with most of the fat trimmed off.
If you still have the trotters-feet- you can feed those as well.
You may want to let the meat thaw out somewhat before feeding though.
Maxi – Pork is NOT indigestible for dogs.
ETA: And for everyone saying raw meat is bad you might want to look at these – if you have a strong stomach anyways.http://mypetcarnivore.com/dogs_eating.ht…http://www.ducfarm.com/danes/misc/hog.ht… Great danes chowing down on *gasp* pork
ETA: The occasional snack if fine and will be good for their teeth if nothing else.
Kibble and raw digest at different rates so on days you want to give meaty bones sub out one of their meals to do so.

Rayven is right on. I do feed pork (in fact it’s one of my dogs favorite protein sources, lol). If you are concerned about the fat content, by all means trim off the fatty bits.
I wouldn’t mix kibble and raw together. So maybe some kibble in the morning or the night before then raw in the evening. It’s a good thing.
(We’ll get ya over to the “dark side” soon, and all you will want is raw for your dog lol)

  5. Maxi says:

I feed BARF and yes I do give bones with meat on and occasionally frozen bones, but I tend not to give pork as it is very indigestable and fatty

I give my dog bones with raw meat on them all the time. It is fine. It won’t hurt them at all. My 4 lb. Chihuahua even chews on them and she is fine.

Dogs d/n handle pork well and should not be eating it,if you want a dog with an upset tummy than go ahead but no really D?N feed Pork..Not digestible

  8. Atheist Mantis says:

Dogs are OMNIVORES! Dogs are DOMESTICATED!
The average dog owner does not have the ability to mix a diet that will keep the dog healthy.
Don’t buy in to this whole ‘Raw Food’ animal food.
Feed him ‘home made’ food but make sure you throw in some high quality manufactured dog food to make sure he isn’t deficient in any nutrients that he needs to be at optimum.
BUY A DOG FOOD COOK BOOK!!!
Follow a set recipe and don’t try to build something yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omnivores
Omnivores (from Latin: omne all, everything; vorare to devour) are species that eat both plants and animals as their primary food source. They are opportunistic, general feeders not specifically adapted to eat and digest either meat or plant material exclusively.[1] Pigs are one well-known example of an omnivore.[2] Crows are another example of an omnivore that many people see every day.[3] Humans are also omnivores.[1][4]
Although there are reported cases of herbivores eating meat matter as well as examples of carnivores eating plants, the classification refers to the adaptations and main food source of the species in general so these exceptions do not make either individual animals nor the species as a whole omnivores.
Most bear species are considered omnivores, but individuals’ diets can range from almost exclusively herbivorous to almost exclusively carnivorous depending on what food sources are available locally and seasonally. Polar bears can be classified as carnivores while pandas almost exclusively eat bamboo and are therefore herbivores, although Giant Pandas will eat some meat from time to time.

  9. Hamburge says:

i wouldn’t give your dog meat with bones in it, they could choke on the bones, and that would not be good. but it is your choice about the meat. you are taking sort of a risk by feeding your dog the meat raw, but dogs are more resistant to diseases contracted from raw meat than humans are – meat is their natural diet, since dogs are carnivores. in other words, if you ate raw meat and your dog ate the same raw meat, you would have more of a chance of getting sick than your dog would. but that doesn’t mean that your dog won’t get sick. there is still a fair chance that your dog could get a disease from the raw meat. if it was my choice, i would certainly cook the meat before giving it to my dog, just to be safe: it is your dog’s health we are considering. but again, it’s your choice.

your dog will eat it, but it isnt too much work to boil it b4 you give it to him/her. my 2 beagles ate the back leg of a deer while it was raw and they are both still healthy. The girl who said never give a dog any meat is crazy. Dogs are carnivores by nature, when they are wild, they only eat meat. It is humans who keep forcing them to eat vegetables.

  11. LARGO allday eryday! says:

HELL no it isnt good to feed ur dog raw meat exspecialli pig cuz 1 bacteria, nd 2 he culd get worms in his stomach nd to tell u da truth u not suppose to give dogs human food cuz it give them kidney stones.

  12. Jordan says:

Raw meet should not be fed to any dog or person. If you want to give him meet it is O.K. as long as it’s cooked and not very often.

  13. Julie says:

It is not ok to feed a dog meat, at all. It can cause diseases and may make your dog vomit, have diahrrea, etc.

  14. JOHN says:

you may make your dog vulnerable to having worms if you do that.

  15. heather says:

dont do that. if it snot ok for humans then dont give it to dogs.
