Should I?
At this time, I feed them Wellness Canned Formula. I’m really happy with it because it’s grain-free and has excellent ingredients, and they love it! I also occasionally feed them Orijen, which is one of the best dry cat foods.
BUT, I’ve been hearing that Raw Food is 100 times better. My local pet boutique sells Nature’s Variety Raw Food: http://www.naturesvariety.com/raw_produc…
I need helpful advice. What should I do?

Wellness is top notch so there is no need to switch. My cat however does enjoy canned food with pieces of raw meat mixed in as a supplement.
If you are willing and able to do the work I believe this is probably healthiest and most natural for the cats. I have tried and failed several times myself but am ready to give it another go. I found this company:http://felineinstincts.ca/
Seems like they have made it much easier so I will order soon.
But if you find you can’t handle the whole planning and prep. , Wellness is one of the better foods. You might try canned Evo also.
Try to stay clear of dry. I give it ( Evo dry ) as treats, part of “catch it” play time, or if I need to be gone overnight only.
I never tried Nature’s Variety but was putting all the separate ingredients, supps etc together myself. I have read good reviews of their products though.
It depends. How are picky are your cats when it comes to switching their food? If they are picky, you may never get them to switch. If not, you could try to switch them, but you may need to do the trick of gradually adding it. Even if they do take to the new food, there’s nothing wrong with giving them a variety of the Raw Food and the Wellness.
I actually just started looking into the Raw Food and am waiting for a coupon to get some to try it out on my cat. Even if she likes it, she will still get her Science Diet for seniors, Newman’s Own, Fancy Feast, and Friskies Naturals because she loves them, and I see no reason to deprive her as long as her main food is the extra good stuff.
it’s really easy to make your own at home. My two love homemade meals far more then anything in a can ( with the exception of the catnip treats they get)..
There are ton’s of websites with recipes and alot of books with them as well. after looking at what was available in high end pet food, I got a grinder and began making my own. 2-3 hours once every 3 weeks keeps my two cats in food. I control if or what grains, fruits, veggies they get and in what quantity. They are healthier for it and come running when they hear the tupperware open in the kitchen with the food in it.
I think you should stick with what you are feeding them currently. and your cats may not even like the raw food if you try to feed it to them. I tried it on my cats once and they sniffed it and looked at me like “what the heck is this crap?!” and never even tried a nibble.
Besides..its rather expensive…
You can make raw at home too. email if you want recipes
You would need a grinder
I don’t see any reason to change if they love it. Why not just give them some raw chicken or even cooked chicken breasts as snacks now and then. Glad you did your research!
FWIW, i don’t believe dry should be fed
