I don’t feed raw, but I know a lot about it because I thought about doing it for awhile, but decided not to.
    How expensive it it?
I’ve heard different things. I think it depends on your area and the size of your dog, like typical dog food.
    What do you feed?
You’re supposed to feed a base then every couple of days through in like organs. For example, serve beef and cuts of chicken/turkey, then two or three times a week through in hearts, livers, etc. You’ll have to have a local organic store to get that stuff.
    What results have you had?
Everyone I’ve talked to says that it’s good. They say their dogs build muscle, many live longer, and they are over-all healthy. I don’t think I’ve heard a bad thing except maybe bad breath or some gas or loose stools.
    What’s good about it?
You know what’s going in your food, it’s healthy for your dog, dogs enjoy it, and it can give your dog more energy and live longer.
    What’s bad about it?
Due to the meat market these days you can’t be sure if it’s infection-free. Which means your dog could easily get sick, or be poisoned and die. Just like the human effects from raw meat. Others believe since they don’t have to kill for the meat, then they can’t digest it well. Like their hearts don’t get pumping, their digestive tracts don’t get a boost, etc. It’s not proven though. And because you’re feeding raw they’re not getting other nutrients nor fiber. Fiber is a good part of their diet which gives them full nutritional value and makes them fully digest their food and have harder stools.
Really, it’s up to you. Definitely you could try it for a month or so and then see how well it works. And then you can find out how much it costs for your dogs and how well they respond.
    Good luck!

Raw feeding is the best way to go for your pet. Depends on what kind of raw you want to do and how much time you put into it. The downsides are it takes more time to prepare the meals and you have to make sure your pet is getting all the proper nutrients. Do alot of research before making the switch. There are alot of recipes on the internet for home cooked meals for dogs. Raw feeding does not only contain of meat but also vegetables and fruit and among other things. It cost just as much as a high quality food if not cheaper since you can usually get some deals if you have a local butcher. Now a days you can also buy frozen raw patties instead of food that is the same but its prepaid so you don’t have to do that prep work yourself. Good luch

    How expensive it it?
It’s very cheaper, for me anyhow.
    What do you feed?
Anything I can get my hands on!
    What results have you had?
More energy, firmer stools, shinier coat, happier dog.
How long have you been feeding?
    6 months.
    Whats good about it?
    Everything.
    Whats bad about it?
Nothing, really. I don’t think anything is bad. One thing though, you are putting *yourself*- not your dog- at risk for E.Coli or Salmonella. Make sure you wash your feeding area & hands thoroughly when finished. http://www.rawfeddogs.net/http://www.rawfed.com/http://www.rawlearning.com/http://www.raw-dogs.com/http://www.raw4dogs.com/

Have you joined the yahoo group for raw feeding? I would post the link but you said you didn’t want that…so let me know if you do. It helped me out more than anything.
How expensive it it? I feed 2.5 lbs a day to my 77-79 lb pitador and it is approx $7 a day
What do you feed? 1/2 a chicken a day, the second meal varies between duck, venison, turkey necks, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, bison, organ meats, raw eggs (twice a week) and fresh veggies mixed in as well.
What results have you had? Amazing. It was like someone waved a magic wand and made my dog healthier. No more diarrhea, no more constant trips to the vet (ear infections, anal gland infections, UTI’s, etc) shinier coat, more energy, easier to maintain his weight, his teeth are doing great. I asked my vet if he needed a cleaning and the vet said no that his teeth look great from crunching on all of those bones!
How long have you been feeding? close to a year
Whats good about it? makes my dog so healthy! smaller poops too!
Whats bad about it? inconvenient when we are traveling, but not too much that I would ever stop. It’s not good to feed kibble one day and raw the next. It diminishes the benefits to feeding raw as kibble doesn’t digest as well.

We did a cost comparison between raw feeding and a “better brand” of dog food – there were a few cents difference in the price.
    Good:
My dogs are happy, full of energy, have the whitest teeth around. No doggy breath. They don’t stink when they’re wet. They are happy to eat what I give them. They have been raised on raw since I got them as young pups. Our beagle is 2, our lab is almost 1. They are always healthy. No big dog poop to clean up, it disintegrates in a matter of days.
    Bad:
Sometimes inconvienant. Forgetting to defrost. No one else will babysit with your dog if they have to rawfeed. Sometimes its a bit much if they take the meat on the carpet….
We feed our dogs basically chicken leg quarters, liver, eggs, hamburger, and cheap cuts of pork.

i feed my dog raw meat, nothing bad has happened. if u worry about expense you can just feed once a week. dogs have natural enzymes in their saliva that can kill the bacteria in the meat and it in return produces fresh breath. thats the number one reason i feed my dog raw meat!!!! nothing has ever gone wrong with him eating and it never will. as u know wolves are dog’s ancestors and they eat raw meat everyday. its the best food for your dog because its natural. like organic for humans the same is raw meat for dogs. always it gives them lots of proteins for energy and help build muscle strength….hope i helped
