THIS IS A BAD IDEA. Dogs are NOT MEANT to eat raw food. There is this idiot named DeWitch in New Hampshire that is stupid enough to have put her dogs on this crap. It is DANGEROUS AND STUPID and this is backed up by my VET. He said it is the worst thing you can do for your dog. Dogs were once wild and had to eat raw meat. They are no longer wild and their internal makeup cannot deal with raw food. DO NOT DO THIS. YOU WILL BE HURTING YOUR DOG REALLY BAD. DO NOT DO THIS.

http://rawdiettruth.blogspot.com/ - has more linkshttp://www.mypetcarnivore.com/rawfeeding…http://www.rawfeddogs.net/http://www.rawfed.com/myths/index.htmlhttp://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/RawCh…http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Rawfe…
where do you buy the food? - grocery store, butcher/deli, farmers. rabbit breeders, websites specializing in supply meat for raw fed dogs
Is it just raw meat wherever you can find it? - Raw meat, organs and raw meaty bones
Also does anyone have a good website that has all of the information I need to get them started? - see above links they will also have links to other sites as well
do you have to have special feeding depending on the dog? - depends on the dog. IF you know your dog well then you can easily handle any upsets. Each dog has its own needs and no two dogs will be fed the exact same way.
Sandra - your vet know about as much as nutrition as you do. Years of selective breeding have NOT changed the digestive system of a dog. I think the MILLIONS of owners who feed this way and the THOUSANDS of vet who not only recommend raw but feed that way themselves would know better than you.

This is NOT a wise idea.
I had my dog on a raw diet and it is impossible to get them to eat dog food of any kind. My dog only ate raw steaks (the cheap kinds) and nothing else.
Look for a good quality dog food and stick to that. Otherwise be prepared for problems in the future.
