    That’s a weird article.
Actually, I haven’t heard of any cats getting sick from a raw diet, but I’ve heard of lots of cats getting sick from commercially prepared cat foods; a lot of the ingredients can cause allergic reactions, digestive upsets and more serious problems. I know cats that have been “cured” of serious digestive disorders by eating a raw diet including one of my own cats. She has always had the tendency to have diarrhea and vomiting when she eats certain commercial foods (and were talking like Evo and Instinct…she’d probably die if I fed her the cheap crap), but she never has the shits or pukes when she eats raw meat.
In my experience, people who feed their cats a raw diet are very conscientious and truly concerned about their cat’s health. They take great care to give them quality meat (mine get organically raised, or at least meat raised without antibiotics and hormones and I spend a good deal of money on food for my cats), and people who feed only raw take great care to ensure that the cats get some bone, organ meats and other sources of vital cat nutrients. Some people even go to the extreme and raise the meat (rabbit, mice, etc.) themselves (check out the Raw Cat yahoo group). I can’t do that cause I’d end up with a yard full of pet bunnies. My cats also get commercial canned foods but I read the labels very carefully. I’m very picky about the food my cats eat just as I am about the food I eat.
It’s really sound logic for a cat to have a raw diet, since they are carnivores. It’s the stuff they put in those cheap, commercial cat foods that doesn’t make sense like wheat and corn gluten, beet pulp, artificial flavors and coloring, and/or chemical preservatives. I mean, come on, that stuff is poisonous, disease causing crap. Even some of the ingredients in some more costly, premium cat foods are illogical and/or scary, and you really have to know what you are looking at.
This is one ingredient that is sometimes found in commercially prepared cat food: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_trip…
    Here’s another one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_bisu…
For me, lazy is when I’d rather open a can or toss them a scoop of dried food (yes, I admit I do that but it’s grain free and it’s not the major part of their diet…) than prepare a balanced raw meal for my cats. But the truly lazy people are the ones who don’t scrutinize the ingredients of the food they give their cats, and especially the ones who feed their cats only dry food. That is lazy.

I don’t feed my cats a raw diet, but I do give them raw chicken from time to time. When given cooked chicken chunks with raw chicken chunks, my cats pick out the raw chunks and eat them first. Sometimes I shred raw carrot and mix it in my blender with raw chicken, my cats love it. Since I don’t have the supplements required to feed them an all raw diet, my cats get this a few times a week and they seem to be extra delighted. They shriek with meows in excitement while I am putting it in their dishes and my one cats tail quivers.

i feed my cat raw…i only spend about 12 bucks a month on cat food for her… I make it her breeder grinds it up with his grinder tho. Im trying to switch her but shes so picky she loved her raw! I put no veggies only raw meats and raw eggs. and the supplement of course. But its hard sometimes when im out allot i have to be there to feed it to her. I cant just leave it out for her to eat. Thats why im trying to get her to also eat dry. If i sprinkle it in her food she MIGHT eat it lol. She adores her food its all shes ever had. i think its better for them they cant get fat off it. Im breeding her (shes a bengal) so health is a main concern of mine.

What do wild cats eat? Raw meat.
I heard about all these cats getting liver disease and all sorts of crap. My cats never got anything, they were all really healthy. They only thing I could think of was their diet. At the time my cats were indoor/outdoor and eating a lot of mice (I no longer allow my cats to free roam, too dangerous).
My cats love raw food though. At diner time they’re under my feet crying for meat.

I too, have mixed feelings on the subject.
I think I’ll stick with the best commercial food I can afford & make sure they get more canned than dry.
