I have a 3 year old Bichon Frise that I just started on a raw food diet. I was feeding dehydrated raw but decided to go fresh since last week. My dog is eating a raw bone right now. It’s a neck bone. I hear him crunching but am wondering what do I look out for to make sure he is safe? It’s okay that he’s breaking off peices and crunching them? It’s so weird to me.
Thanks for your help!!

Make sure your dog is actually crunching up before swallowing. As long as he’s not trying to inhale large pieces that he’s broken off he will be fine and from the sound of it he’s handling what you have been giving him very well.
you have nothing to worry about that big bone. dogs teeth are made for that. the only thing don’t give him chicken wing bones because the those might get caught in his throat.
I have a Bishon/Poodle mix and she loves bones and don’t choke.
The only kind of bones not to give is chicken bones because they splinter and he will choke.
my dogs are not allowed bones of any kind chicken bones and turkey bones are really bad because they splinter
