my cousin has feed all of her dogs and cats raw meat.her get hambuger and chicken and her cats get hambuger, sardines, tuna, eggs, and other meats is it normal?
I just have cats and their evening meal is a raw meat diet that I prepare for them with a supplement powder. Since I use ground meat I have to have the supplement powder for calcium as the meat is boneless. The powder also has psyllium for fiber, extra taurine (there is some in the meat) and salmon oil.
It is certainly the healthiest way to feed pets as no commercial product can replicate the benefits of the raw meat. There are now commercial raw meat diets for both cats and dogs (properly balanced) that some pet stores are selling.
I believe this would be the raw diet, correct?
It’s supposed to be better for your pets than store bought processed pet foods. I wouldn’t want to do it though, because it’s a very messy diet.
Uncooked meats are suppose to be healthier. I however cannot see giving my dog raw meats to eat.
Just type in search: Is raw meat good for cats and dogs. It shows a number of selections to chose from.
Yes a lot of professional cat breeders give raw meat as part of the diet, great for the coat factor. Cats more so then dogs as cats are carnivores in nature. The breeders I know use a good quality raw ground beef, occasional beef liver or kidney boiled lightly & put in food processor.
I don’t, although one of my cats has a bit of raw meat every day while I am making supper. With her, I don’t have any option really, she just sits there and screams until she is given some. My sister, on the other hand, who has 13 cats and lives on a Hunting lodge in Namibia, feeds her cats a diet of only raw meat. They are all very healthy animals, and rarely have to see a vet. It has been said that a raw diet is the natural thing for animals, as they do not know how to cook. I still prefer my way though, its much less trouble and mess!
I had a dog that was fat, listless, had itchy skin and was just acting old and unhappy. My wife read the book, “Give your Dog a Bone”, and started feeding him raw meat with a high bone content, and the change was dramatic. The dog lived to be 17 and that was his primary diet. I had always heard that a dog will choke on chicken bones, but apparently that only applies to cooked bones. I’m no expert, but it sure worked for us..
To be perfectly honest I am unable to afford to feed totally raw at this point but I used to and I’ve never seen healthier animals than my dogs and cats at the time. I’m hoping that I will be able to get a job soon and return to it for my three cats – I’m only able to feed partial raw for them now. I ground meat and bone together with hearts and liver plus added supplements to the results and did it once a week – froze it in small plastic bowls and then would just unthaw one each day for them. for the dogs, I did a ground diet but also included raw chicken wings and legs plus had the butcher keep a look out for raw marrow bones and knuckle bones for them to gnaw on for their teeth and they were sure in good health and so happy. I’d certainly recommend it. it’s very natural for both the dog and cat – after all, it’s what they would be doing naturally. I have friends who actually buy feeder mice for their cats too but I can’t quite go that far….it’s why altho I love boas and such, I can never have one – can’t feed it live prey!!
When you consider how horribly some of the dogs and cats have died from the canned food lately, and now there is some dried food that is being taken from the shelves….well, cooking or making your own food for your animals just begins to sound like a good deal……at least you know it’s safe?
Raw meat can give a cat and dog worms and e-coli and salmomella.

It’s a bad idea to feed your cat raw meats or table scraps, especially raw hamburger meat. That can have salmonella in it. You should only feed your cat one type of premium cat food and nothing but that. That’s the only thing that’s healthy and normal for a cat.
