commercial dog food has no pro-biotics and no digestable enzymes. It’s all advertizing as far as what they add for flavor & enhancements. Toxic laiden is also a big problem. There’s really no such thing as a good dog food. It’s all over-processed.
Raw is not that difficult and cheaper than buying a better (holistic) brand or pricey vet recommended one. If you thrift shop wiselly though. It’s also not that difficult to start a dog on raw if you do the chicken leg quarters way. That takes about 12 to 15 weeks to get them on it. Yahoo groups has some you can join to learn.
Careful adding raw stuff to your kibble. It takes kibble 10 to 12 hours to digest. Raw only 5 to 6. Mixing them together is not good. If you want to supplement with raw, feed a separate meal at a separate time. Fish (salmon) is one item you cook.
It’s not the protein you want, it’s the enzymes which are found in faw meat and pureed (blended into a soupy liquid) vegetables. Kibble contains none; lowers the immune system and backs up the liver because of it.

if you want to feed him raw meat, you can buy raw diets specifically for dogs at the pet store. a brand that i’ve tried for my dog is called natures variety, but there are others. some of the raw diets are used for supplementing with dry food and don’t have all of the nutrients a dog needs when feeding alone. so, you should use dry food along with it or a multi-vitamin. but, some are good to use alone .. you have to do research on what you want for your dog .. and definitely consult with your vet before changing your dogs diet.
you shouldn’t give him raw meat from the grocery store, because you or dog can get salmonella, worms, e. coli .. etc. good luck!

Raw food is the way your dog would eat in the wild and is the healthiest diet. However, you have to know what you are doing and it can be costly. Check out the BARF diet if you are really interested in going this way.

There’s lots of benefits, but unfortunately I don’t know too much about raw feeding. Some people on this forums do raw feed, so I’ll star. But I’m positive you’ll find a million pages on google if you search it.

raw is not bad, but handle the meat carefully as you don’t want your dog to get sick from it and introduce it slowly otherwise he will have diarrhea. There are plenty of raw feeding websites on the web.

Why not just suppliment his dog food with something other then raw meat yet high in protien? Like beans? poor dog.

You cannot go wrong with a Good quality Dry Dog Food.
Its Will give him all the protein he needs, Keep his teeth in good shape and be a complete diet all round.
Why are you trying to max out his protein, Are you trying to bulk him up?
You cannot do anything better for him than a good dog food and plenty of exercise, If the parents are good and strong and you have selected him well then he will be too.
