My son has been eating raw cucumbers since before his first birthday (and before he had any teeth). He would suck/gnaw on other raw veggies, too, but didn't really eat them until his molars came in.
He's now 22 months old and eats raw carrots, celery, cucumber slices, and red/orange/yellow pepper slices just fine. He's also had radishes, but wasn't impressed. Once in a while, he'll eat a piece of lettuce, but he usually spits it back out. We usually eat broccoli/cauliflower cooked, so I'm not sure if he's ever had them raw, but I wouldn't be afraid to offer them.
Definitely watch closely when you first offer raw veggies, but I don't see any harm in offering them now.

My 16 month old daughter LOVES raw snow peas and sugar snap peas! Snap the ends of them off, and pull off the string that runs along the edge. They make a perfect dipping snack, and they aren't overly hard (like carrots!), so I worry less about choking with them. She also likes grape tomatoes (which I cut in half or in quarters). My daughter is really into dipping just about anything, too, and I have found that cooled, steamed baby carrots work well for dipping, too!

Most raw veggies a re really tough to chew. My son is almost 2 and I don't give him raw veggies yet. If you are going to do it anyway I'd watch him like a hawk. Carrots are really hard and celery has the stringy stuff in it. I would really cook things first but you're the mom! Good Luck!

I agree with the above poster, just take the "stringy" stuff out of celery first.

18 months old? Anything you would eat yourself. An 18 month old does not need a special diet - he should be eating what you eat.
