I feed my dog raw food only and the occasional scrap bones from my butcher, but i need a more regular stable supply. Does anyone have any pointers as to where i can purchase large amounts of meaty bones, scraps which i can freeze.. Whether off an internet site or if any one knows of a slaughterhouse in surrey where i may travel to.
Any help appreciated x

Go to any grocery store and buy soup bones. They have small packages of them. If you have a butcher in your area, ask him to save you a big bag of soup bones. They can be frozen for future use. I usually cook them for my dogs tho’.
soup bones
they can get tape worm giving them raw bones i know they like them,i know lads with lurchers and they feed theirs raw meat, usually ,go to an abotoir.
Get on the freeway for a ride. There is always plenty of your
local “roadkill.” <}:-})
I get mine at Vons/Safeway. They always have a good supply of them.
what you need is to ask your butcher for marrowbones, great for your dogs, and about 50p each, these will keep your dog happy for days,no need to freeze, they will happily gnaw till its gone, make sure you put in a regular order in with your butcher,as they go quickly.
your local butcher will always have those sorts of things. and will sometimes give you it for free!
but i wouldnt feed those to him everyday as his main FOOD
i suggest put him on dry food regularly
(its cheaper too!)
and maybe give him a large bone as a snack every two days.
hope it helps!
Ask for soup bones, preferably beef, you will then get pot size bones just right for the pot!!
usually local butchers are the best place to go to, as they now have to pay to get rid of their waste.
I Have Newfoundlands and med cross bred dog they are fed raw Chicken carcass each with fruit & veg daily they will eat them fresh or frozen from Pointer Poultry Norfolk 15kg box @ £3.00 fresh. Or they have raw Free Flow Trip for a change from Jem Pets Norfolk 5×2kg bag @ £11.65. The vet has said that our 15yr old cross bred dog has teeth of an 2yr old and never had his teeth cleaned.
If you have a good local butcher who prepairs his own chickens and other meat he may give you the carcass for free as they have to pay to get rid of them I I did have one but moved house we used to get Chicken and Lamb carcass from him which went down very well with the dogs.
Yell doesn’t list any abattoirs in Surrey. Here’s a couple in Hampshire

We get them quite cheaply from local butchers. Call some and ask. They usually have them available.
The butchers in my area have TONS of femur bones cut and ready!!! They will leave more meat on them if you ask.
I avoid slaughterhouses. Never know what kind of animals you are getting product from.
Morrisons always have stuff like that really cheap
Almost any grocery store’s meat department should be helpful; and NEVER give a dog chicken bones; they are too small, break easily and can get stuck in a dogs throat….they can kill!
I was told by a butcher it is agaisnt the law to sell bones as they can be make your dog ill .
Study raw diets on the Internet to enable you to get it right. Don’t just look for a slaughterhouse there will be local butchers who want to sell their bits and pieces. Buy a big freezer and a food processor and visit local butchers who sell a large variety of meat. Raw natural food is excellent however you must read up on this.
I never gave my dogs any bones. They can be harmful and splinter. Don’t use rawhide bones as these can swell in the stomach. It’s best to just get a solid toy and a Nylabone to help keep the dog’s teeth clean and satisfying chewing. My daughter is a vet tech and she will tell you the same thing.
Raw diet is GREAT! for your dog if it done right. I work in a natural pet supply store and we carry Primal, Nature’s Variety Northwest Naturals all great companies that supply Frozen Raw diet foods and bones.
Note: We’ve been feeding BARF (raw foods) exclusively for five years. They handle raw bones very well. Never feed COOKED ones. You are specifically asking about ‘meaty’ so I would also suggest you consider purchasing commercial raw diet (such as Primal) which offers complete nutrition in one mixture…meat, veggies, vitamins, minerals and you’ll know you’re feeding meat without antibiotics and hormones.
Suggested sources for meats and bones:
1) Your local butcher shop. If you get to know him/her, and buy regularly, they’ll treat you right!
2) We feed chicken necks and chicken wings, easily available. Talk to the head of the butcher department of your grocery and ask if they can make you a better deal on large quantities.
3) Go to your local ’boutique’ or ‘holistic’ pet supply stores and talk with the owner. If they carry frozen raw items, they can often arrange a quantity sale directly from their distributor.
4) see link below to Crockford Bridge Farm
5) see link below to Surrey Produce. They prepare boxes and may have lots of trimmings to be disposed of.
6) see last link. I believe they deal with wholesalers, but could probably get you in touch with someone who has just what you need.
I get mine at any local store, Vons, Albertsons………. I go to the meat department and ask fo bone marrow, not just any meaty bone.
For those reading this and think its nuts, just ask the Vet, its good for them.
You didn’t say what state you live in, or if you live in city or country.
I raise cattle on a small farm. If there are small cattle farmers near you, then there are butchers who kill cattle for the farmers and there are meat cutters who then cut the cow carcass up for the farmer’s to put in their freezers.
I periodically go to the man who kills the cattle and from him I get hearts & tongues for $.50/ea and livers or the “oxtail” for $1/ea and from the meat cutter I get bones.
They recommend not taking the largest weight bearing bones from a cow as they become so hard, but try to find butchers who do wild game, and get bones from wild game, and butchers who do goats and/or lambs. …
OH…
ok… you DO understand about slaughterhouses… and this means you’re in the UK. If I don’t find you one, then try to find a farmer and ask the farmer where the slaughterhouses are…. or ask a butcher… (meat cutter)
or you can buy beef ribs just before their “sell by this date” and get them for a discount, hopefully. My dogs love the beef rib meat on the rib bones. (I feed raw). My dogs love it when I feed them chicken as I get it just before the “sell by” date and get it really cheap that way. I weigh out the meat, and feed the bones later as treats and chicken bones are one of their favorite treats… and always remember… UNCOOKED BONES ONLY!
AHHH I did get results from doing a google search!
Go to the grocery store, buy a the cheapest meat you can find with a bone in it such as chicken drumsticks, and feed it to your dog.
cut your arm off………..yum!
