Food Question – Orijen, Raw Diet Etc.?

Another food question – i get sick of seeing them x]
You might want to eat me after hearing this (Americans/Canadians anyhow) – we are currently feeding our puppy James WellBeLoved (actually you may not even have it over there..) well on the DogFoodAnalysis site it is a 3 star food.
It’s first 2 ingredients are: Rice, Turkey Meat Meal.
I’m a member of a Shih Tzu forum (mostly UK members) and they think that it is a good quality food. Over here we don’t have Canadian brands such as Orijen available (other than online) so most people feed either raw diet, JWB, Eukanuba, Royal Canin etc.
I enquired about raw feeding on the forum and a few people feed raw – ‘Natures Menu’ nuggets (link: http://www.naturesmenu.co.uk/products/fr…
I thought that raw was..feeding cuts of meat and a lot of effort but this is effortless, natural food in nugget form. Anyone in the UK had these (or US, wherever) and would you consider them a healthy diet for my Shih Tzu?

I Am Looking For People That Feed Their Dogs A Raw Diet?

Hey I am looking for people who feed their dogs raw diets. Do you have any good links? What type of things to do you feed your dogs? What are their fav things to eat? We are feeding eggs, chicken, rice and cheese once a day and dry food (canidae all life stages) once a day for the older dogs and twice a day for the puppy. We want to feed all raw but we need more information about it. So if you feed raw please let us know of some good sites and any other information you can give us. Thanks!

Please Explain To Me Why The Raw Diet Surpasses High Quality Diets?

As a vet tech I want to know why people feel so strongly about feeding this diet.
I recently answered a question about why a vet would not recommend the diet for an older dog and listed the reasons why.
I got the big ol’ thumbs down.
I believe the Raw diet has benefits it just has to be executed properly.

Feeding Rabbit On A Raw Diet. Can It Have Parasites?

When I tell people I feed raw, they keep telling me that I am stupid, that my dog will get parasites. Then I’ve read online that if you give raw beef or chicken, it is okay and safe but not to give raw game because of a trichonella or something like that parasite which is not killed by freezing, would that include rabbit or just venison and pork?

How Should I Go About Converting My Cats To A Raw Food Diet.?

I have two wonderful cats, one is just over a year old, the other is seven years old. I am ready to start feeding them a raw food diet, but after having them both on strictly kibble diet all of their life, I am unsure as to what I should start them on. I have had people recommend chicken necks and wings, but I was wondering if anything else would be good. I would like to stay mostly in one protein source, at least at first.

When Feeding A Barf Diet How Do You Deal With Contamination From Raw Meat/chicken Bones In The House?

This is for anyone using the BARF diet for their dogs (or cats). We are getting a dog this summer and I’ve been looking into the option of feeding a raw diet. My wife is concerned about the dog eating raw food in the house, mainly the chance that it could drag raw chicken around and contaminate places other than his/her food dish. I would imagine that a dog with a piece or raw chicken will take it’s time eating it and won’t just eat it out of the bowl. How do you deal with this? What is your cleanup routine? What if the dog brings the bone over to carpet? If you have children in the house how do you deal with a dog with raw food and kids? Should we really be concerned about all this?
Keep in mind this question is for people using the BARF diet, not an opportunity to oppose that anyone uses it.

Feeding Cats Raw Meat?

All the people I’ve spoken to on Y!A tell me not to feed my kitten raw meat because she’ll ‘get sick and die’.
I don’t get it, none of the vets I know have any issue with it. They do in fact say that raw chicken is excellent for cats. Plus, cats eat raw meat in the wild. Even domestic cats eat raw birds.
So do any of you actually have any facts (with links) to back up your claims of raw meat being dangerous?
Not trying to be harsh, just curious to know all the facts.

Good Raw Feeding Idea?

I heard from someone that I should put an add on Craiglist and ask for people’s raw meat or something. Like when they clean out their freezers and find raw meat they aren’t going to use.
So, raw feeders, good idea? Do you do it?
